By Benjy Swan: The Floyd Mayweather Jr.- Marcos Maidana undercard fighters met today for their final press conference at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Former three division world champion Adrien Broner and Carlos Molina spoke about their big 10 round fight on Saturday, and also Amir Khan and Luis Collazo were in attendance to take about their clash as well.
“If y’all thought a loss was gonna humble me or put me in my place, then y’all can just shove that up y’all a–. Listen, I’ve come to do damage man,” Broner said. “I’m punching with bad intentions and I’m back on my “A” game…you put Carlos Molina in front of me? That’s kinda disrespectful to me. So I’m going to make an example out of this [expletive]. He’s talking something about going for broke. [expletive]. Ain’t he already broke? He’s getting the biggest payday he ever got and he’s about to get his a– whooped…no homo but he getting’ it off the ding-ding.”
Broner was letting it all hang out with his trash talking, and it wasn’t surprising to see him talking this way. Broner was beaten by Maidana last December by a 12 round decision, and that loss seems given Broner a big chip on his shoulder. It’s unclear whether a win over Molina will be a big enough victory to get Broner to settle down.
As far as Broner saying it was disrespectful for him to be matched against Molina, it’s a fight that Broner could have turned down when it was offered to him by Golden Boy Promotions and his adviser Al Haymon. Broner could have and should have said not to the fight if he had problems with fighting Molina.
“We’re ready. Come Saturday night it’s pay-per-view, so we’re going to go fro broke on this one. We’re letting our hands fly and expect a great performance from Carlos Molina.”
Molina is a huge 25-1 underdog in this fight, and this is a pay-per-view card. That’s a terrible mismatch for a fight that will be televised on Showtime pay-per-view.
